Fifth Annual I Love NYC Pets Month is Just Around the Corner
Open Your Hearts and Homes to NYC's Homeless Pets This February
New York, NY – Monday, January 10, 2011 – The Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals® is gearing up for its fifth annual I Love NYC Pets Month, taking place throughout the month of February. To support its goals of increasing pet adoptions and spay/neuter rates and transforming New York City into a no-kill community, the Mayor's Alliance will sponsor more than 30 adoption events and other festivities, to shine a spotlight on the NYC's homeless pets and the fact that pets are family, too!
I Love NYC Pets Month will kick off on February 1, with an exciting event featuring Doggie Moms, a new reality television show that will include important information on City resources for dog owners, premiering in mid-February on NYC life (channel 25).
Another highlight of the month is a February 19 Spay Day event, jointly hosted by the Mayor's Alliance, ASPCA, and The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS). The event will feature pet adoptions; free spay/neuter clinics, microchipping, dog licensing, and vaccinations; plus information from pet experts, exciting giveaways, and more.
On February 23, the Mark Garrison Salon on East 60th Street will host a fundraiser for the Mayor's Alliance, with participation by the Doggie Moms.

About the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals®
The Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals, Inc., founded in 2002 and powered by Maddie's Fund®, The Pet Rescue Foundation, with support from the ASPCA, is a coalition of more than 150 animal rescue groups and shelters working with Animal Care & Control of NYC (AC&C) to end the killing of healthy and treatable cats and dogs at AC&C shelters. To achieve that goal, the Alliance, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation, helps its Alliance Participating Organizations (APOs) work to their highest potential to increase pet adoptions and spay/neuter rates, with the goal of transforming New York City into a no-kill community by 2015. www.AnimalAllianceNYC.org
