Mayor's Alliance Team "Miles For Paws" Takes to the Streets in this Year's ING NYC Marathon Animal Enthusiasts run to support NYC's Homeless Animals New York, NY – Thursday, November 4, 2010 – On Sunday, November 7, the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals will be represented in the ING New York City Marathon as part of the marathon's Community Charity Program. Before a crowd of two million cheering spectators and 315 million worldwide television viewers, five athletes who comprise Team "Miles For Paws" will participate in the race to raise money to support the Alliance's lifesaving programs for NYC's homeless animals. "Miles For Paws" team members include Jodi and Bruce Dougherty, Lou Rodriguez, Carl Mister, and Debbie Fierro — a Mayor's Alliance Wheels of Hope transport driver. You can read about each runner at www.MilesForPaws.org. "This is our first year participating in the ING New York City Marathon and we are thrilled to have an amazing group of runners who are passionate about animals and running to support our cause", said Jane Hoffman, President of Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals. "We hope New Yorkers will support Team "Miles For Paws" — and the animals for whom they are running — by making a pledge at www.MilesForPaws.org. for individual team members, or for the entire team". You also can show your support by cheering the runners on from the sidelines. They'll each be wearing a "Miles For Paws" t-shirt, so watch for them. To choose a convenient location to watch the race, view a map of the marathon route. When you run for a charity, you're guaranteed entry to the ING New York City Marathon.
