Spring is coming, and so are plenty of opportunities to adopt your new best friend in NYC! Photo by Dana Edelson Out of the Cage! April 2011 This month we're excited to share with you highlights of our progress report for 2010. As you'll read in this issue, we continued in 2010 to reduce euthanasia at Animal Care & Control of NYC (AC&C) thanks to the dedicated efforts of the rescue groups and shelters that participate in the Mayor's Alliance, including AC&C. And while much work remains to be done, and more lives need to be saved, we're inspired by our success in reducing the killing of healthy and treatable dogs and cats at AC&C shelters for the sixth year in a row. In this issue you'll also read about the amazing work being done by Pets for Patriots, a Long Island-based organization that promotes pet adoptions for service and veteran members of the U.S. military. You'll also learn about some of the resources available in New York City for pet owners who are struggling to keep their pets in this difficult economy. We appreciate your support as a newsletter subscriber, and we hope we can inspire you to take another step into our corner — and make a financial contribution for NYC's animals. It's easy; you can make a convenient, tax-deductible donation here. As always, we enjoy hearing from our readers, so if you have a comment about our e-newsletter, please e-mail us at enews@AnimalAllianceNYC.org.
Best wishes, Jane Hoffman President, Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals
