Out of the Cage!

January 2011

The new year has just begun, and already we're celebrating good news for NYC's animals with the recent passage of two important pieces of animal-friendly legislation by our City Council. You'll read about these exciting developments in this issue of Out of the Cage!, along with other good news for NYC's animals.

We're excited to celebrate our fifth annual I Love NYC Pets Month in February, when we shine a spotlight on the joys of adopting from a shelter or rescue group. Read about some of the highlights we have planned for the month, including a multi-service Spay Day and adoption event on February 19, in partnership with the ASPCA and The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), exciting activities around the television premiere of Doggie Moms on NYC life (Channel 25) on February 16, and house rabbits for adoption from Rabbit Rescue & Rehab appearing in the Chinatown Lunar New Year Parade on February 6.

Also in this issue you'll read about why it matters where you get your dog; how you can make life easier for your pets during the cold, wintry months; and why adopting a Pit Bull from Animal Care & Control of NYC is a good idea.

Let's make this month the start of a really special year for NYC's animals. Watch our e-newsletter for news and information about how you can help NYC's homeless animals in a variety of ways, all year long. And if you have comments about our e-newsletter, please feel free to share them with us at news@AnimalAllianceNYC.org.

Best wishes,
