Whether you're looking for a mutt or a pure breed, our second Adoptapalooza event in Washington Square Park on Sunday, September 12, will be a great place to meet the dog or cat of your dreams! Photo by Dana Edelson Out of the Cage! August 2010 As summer begins to wind down, we're excitedly making plans for our upcoming events and activities that will carry us through to year's end. In this issue of Out of the Cage! you'll read about our next big adoption event, Adoptapalooza, coming September 12 to Washington Square Park. You'll also read about how "Maria's Pet Project" — Maria Sansone's weekly segment on NBC 4 New York's LX New York — continues to generate successful adoptions by our participating shelters and rescue groups each week. We're extremely grateful to Maria and her team at NBC 4 for their continued support of our efforts. As NYCHA residents continue to deal with harsh and restrictive rules imposed last year governing pets in NYCHA housing, read about how the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals and others are continuing our efforts to protect the rights of NYCHA tenants to keep their pets. And hear from Julie Bank, Executive Director of Animal Care & Control of NYC (AC&C), about new volunteer opportunities at AC&C. We appreciate your continued interest in our efforts to transform New York City into a no-kill community. Your support is important to us! We enjoy hearing from you, so please feel free to e-mail us at enews@AnimalAllianceNYC.org with questions or comments about our e-newsletter.
Best wishes, Jane Hoffman President, Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals
