Picasso Veterinary Fund in Action: Sneakers Just Might Be the Right Fit for You!

In October, Sneakers fell victim to the same fate that befalls many a stray dog and cat in the city — a run-in with a speeding car. Luckily for Sneakers, only her rear right leg was broken. A Good Samaritan found the injured two-year-old American Pit Bull Terrier/Lab mix and took her to NYC Veterinary Specialists, a specialty animal hospital on Manhattan's West Side. Again, luck was on her side: the hospital is a Mayor's Alliance partner in the care of animals whose treatment is paid for by the Picasso Veterinary Fund (PVF) of the Mayor's Alliance. The hospital administrator contacted the Alliance to see if the PVF would pay for Sneakers' treatment to get her back on four good feet. The answer was yes.

Now Sneakers is recovering from her surgery at Hudson Valley Kennels. And she's waiting for that special someone who will complete her recovery by opening their heart and home to her. Sneakers will be a loving companion; she's gentle and affectionate, and ready to begin her new life.

Sneakers would love to meet you and give you a chance to see how much joy she can bring into your life. She would like nothing more than to start off the new year with you! If you or someone you know might be Sneakers' soul mate, please contact us at picasso@AnimalAllianceNYC.org, or view her profile on Petfinder.

We also ask that here at the holidays you consider giving a gift of hope to dogs and cats who, like Sneakers, need a little financial help to acquire the medical treatment they need to get back in the game for a chance for a loving home. Without that financial help, sick or injured animals that wind up at the city shelters sometimes don't survive. Your gift of $10, $25, $100…whatever you can give will help to save a homeless animal like Sneakers. You can make a convenient online donation to the Picasso Veterinary Fund and rest assured that your generosity today will create a bright new year for a deserving animal.
