This year, in partnership with 150 Alliance Participating Organizations (APOs), we achieved a groundbreaking 87% community-wide Live Release Rate for New York City’s shelter animals. We succeeded in saving 8 out of every 10 lives at ACC in 2014, and we have saved more than 275,000 lives since 2003.
Now in our second decade, we continue to tackle the animal overpopulation crisis in New York City by leveraging our leadership role for a strengthened community collaboration. Each of the Past Key Initiatives outlined here is implemented in service of our rescue partners, to bolster their operations and help them fulfill their mission (and ours) of saving the lives of homeless animals. In addition, our Helping Pets and People in Crisis program provides essential links in the rescue chain and bridges human and animal welfare services to keep animals safe and with their owners — where they belong.
Today New York City is a more humane community than when we began, thanks to our valued partners and supporters who dedicate their time and resources to benefit NYC’s animals. We are committed to sustaining this progress, and to seeing the day when all healthy and treatable cats and dogs in New York City have a home. Thank you for your support this year, and for joining us as we continue on our mission to save lives in 2015 and beyond.
