Pets are Popping Up at the RS POP-UP Adoption Shop

This November, for the first time ever, the RS POP-UP Shop will feature cats and dogs for adoption and pet products and accessories that can improve your pet’s health and contentment.

New York, NY – Tuesday, October 25, 2011 – Pet savvy New Yorkers will have a new shopping destination come November as the RS POP-UP Shop at the Roger Smith Hotel, 501 Lexington Avenue, is transformed into a pet product and accessories mecca. From collapsible travel carriers made by Sturdi Products and raw, freeze-dried treats from Stella & Chewy’s to Sam & Tasha pet fashions with children’s wear aesthetic, fashionable Poopy Packs™ from Metro Paws and Yeowww!® 100% filled with organically grown catnip toys from DuckyWorld, pet parents are guaranteed to find ways to spoil their furry family members this season.

Don’t have a pet of your own? RS POP-UP is also teaming up with the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals® to feature pets for adoption each day in the store. And on Wednesdays throughout November, the Mayor’s Alliance adoption van will be parked curbside from 5:00–8:00 p.m. with even more animals for adoption from affiliate rescue organizations, such as Dog Habitat Rescue, KittyKind, MetroMalts, Picasso Veterinary Fund® of the Mayor’s Alliance, Posh Pets Rescue, Sean Casey Animal Rescue, and others.

Join us for our opening reception with a special ribbon-cutting for the brand new Mayor’s Alliance adoption van on Wednesday, November 2, from 5:00–8:00 p.m. (RSVP to pr@lionesquemedia.com.) Enjoy complimentary wine, Twisted Lemonade, and Pop Chips while meeting adorable animals for adoption or checking out the cool pet products for sale. Kevin Duck, co-owner with his wife Lisa of DuckyWorld (makers of the ridiculously potent Yeowww!® Catnip toys), say, “What a fantastic opportunity to find homes for loving animals. We work really hard to make high-quality, fun toys for cats which humans get a kick out of too; so we very much appreciate this chance to work just as hard directly helping animals.”

Beginning November 2nd, the shop’s hours will be 10:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m., seven days a week. Pet adoption hours within the store will be Noon–6:00 p.m. weekdays, and Noon–5:00 p.m. on weekends. Additionally, the Mayor’s Alliance adoption van will appear outside the store every Wednesday evening from 5:00–8:00 p.m., coinciding with a weekly cocktail reception in the store (except Wednesday, November 23, the night before Thanksgiving). Meet fashion illustrator Jennifer Lilya on November 9 or November 20, as she will be sketching people and pets for donations to raise money for our pet shelters.

Stephanie Mattera, Spokesperson for the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals, explains, “We think that the shop’s terrific location and the timing of the promotion heading into the holiday season will be a boon to adoptions by raising awareness and ensuring that more homeless animals find the loving homes they so richly deserve.”

Come out and adopt a pet and shop all the products from Stella & Chewy’s, Sturdi Products, DuckyWorld Yeowww!®, Sam & Tasha, and Metro Paws this November at the RS POP-UP Shop.

Mayor's Alliance for NYC's AnimalsAbout the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals®
The Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals, Inc., founded in 2002 and powered by Maddie’s Fund, The Pet Rescue Foundation, with support from the ASPCA, is a coalition of more than 150 animal rescue groups and shelters working with Animal Care & Control of New York City (AC&C) to end the killing of healthy and treatable cats and dogs at AC&C shelters. To achieve that goal, the Alliance, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation, helps its Alliance Participating Organizations (APOs) work to their highest potential to increase pet adoptions and spay/neuter rates, with the goal of transforming New York City into a no-kill community by 2015. www.AnimalAllianceNYC.org
