Are you and your pets prepared for a hurricane, flood, or other disaster, either natural or man-made? Last month’s brush with Hurricane Irene sent a wake-up call to many New Yorkers, forcing them to confront the realities of emergency planning to ensure their safety — and the safety of their pets — when an emergency strikes.
Find out how you can get prepared at the One-Stop Shop for Pet Preparedness event on Monday, September 26, 3:30–7:00 p.m., in Union Square.
Bring your dogs and/or cats (cats in carriers, please) with you, and take important steps — most at no charge to you — to get prepared, including:
- FREE Microchipping
- FREE Rabies Vaccination
- FREE Identification Tags
- Dog Licensing: $8.50 for dogs that have been spayed or neutered (bring proof of spay/neuter); $34 for intact dogs (bring your checkbook or credit card)
Get advice from the experts from some of the organizations on the Animal Planning Task Force of the NYC Office of Emergency Management (OEM), including the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals, ASPCA, Animal Care & Control of NYC, NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, and NYC Veterinary Emergency Response Team (NYC VERT).
