In observance of Spay
Day USA (February 27), ABC Animal Hospital, located on Manhattan's
Lower East Side, provided free spay and neuter surgeries for feral
cats for some local residents. The program was sponsored by the
NYC
Feral Cat Initiative, a project of the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals.
The surgeries was offered to TNR-certified feral
cat caretakers who have attended the Neighborhood
Cats TNR Workshop. Appointments were made through the NYC Feral
Cat Initiative, and the surgeries were performed, free-of-charge,
by Dr. Daniel Tufaro, DVM, of the ABC Animal Hospital. All the cats
were left ear-tipped.
The Mayor's Alliance is extremely grateful to Dr.
Tufaro for his generous contribution of time and talent to benefit
the cats. We invite other veterinarians to follow Dr. Tufaro's lead
and get involved in the solution to NYC's feral cat problem. Interested
veterinarians can contact us at info@AnimalAllianceNYC.org.

for a TNR workshop, visit the NYC
Feral Cat Council web site.
