Nonprofit Spay/Neuter Providers

You must be a Certified TNR Caretaker working with feral and stray cats to qualify for the free and low-cost clinic services offered by the ASPCA, The Toby Project, and The Humane Society of New York.

ASPCA Spay/Neuter Clinic

The ASPCA provides services for community cats at their three Spay/Neuter Clinics in New York City. Their free spay/neuter package includes a rabies vaccination, tattoo, nail trim and ear tip. Limited wellness services such as FVRCP vaccinations, FIV/FeLV testing, and flea treatment may also be available on request and at reduced cost.  Appointments are required to use both facilities, as well as a current signed ASPCA Terms of Use Agreement.

You must register with the ASPCA in order to use their free spay/neuter clinic, transport, and trap bank services. To register, visit the ASPCA’s online Rescuer Services Scheduler (RSS).

The Humane Society of New York Clinic

The Humane Society of New York (HSNY) offers services for community cats, including free spay/neuter, left eartip, rabies vaccination, and flea and ear mite medication. Further services, such as testing, are available at regular and very affordable fees. If a cat is sick or injured, free or discounted treatment may be available at the discretion of the HSNY.

Please call (212) 752-4840 to schedule appointments. Appointments are available 7 days a week. Cats need to be signed in between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m. the morning of your spay/neuter date, and pick-up is usually between 3:00 and 4:00 p.m., unless you’re instructed otherwise.

The Humane Society of New York is located at 306 East 59th Street, New York, NY 10022.

Each cat must be brought in a separate trap or transfer cage, covered completely with a sheet — no exceptions. Carriers or other containers are not acceptable. Please call HSNY for more information on the requirements for rescued friendly and adoptable cats and kittens.

Note: The Humane Society of New York does not provide post-surgery boarding. All cats must be picked up at the requested time. It is crucial to their community cat program that you respect these strict guidelines.

If you are not yet a Certified TNR Caretaker and want to become eligible for this and other free and low-cost community cat spay/neuter services, please check back often to see when our next workshop is scheduled.
