Join the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals for Adoptapalooza, NYC's original mega pet adoption event! These free, public pet adoption extravaganzas feature wonderful cats, dogs, and sometimes rabbits from dozens of Alliance Participating Organizations. Each Adoptapalooza features additional activities, which might include advice on pet care, training, and grooming; product giveaways; microchipping; dog licensing; pet photographers; dog performances; or other fun activities for the whole family — two- and four-legged alike.

The Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals, in partnership with the Petco Foundation, the ASPCA, and Animal Planet, is celebrating the ASPCA's 150th Anniversary at a very special Adoptapalooza on April 10, 2016! This celebration includes our mega pet adoption event in Union Square Park, along with a parade on Broadway, plus an additional adoption event at House of Vans in Brooklyn. Adoption fees will be covered by Animal Planet!

NYC Paws Parade

Bring the whole family out — including Fido — to watch the first NYC Paws Parade, honoring the history of animal protection and celebrating the efforts of local groups dedicated to protecting some of our city’s most vulnerable residents. The event will feature grand marshal Bernadette Peters, Marnie The Dog, Pip (the pup who was rescued after being tossed from car in Staten Island), NYPD Mounted and Canine Units, the ASPCA, Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals, Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC), rescue vehicles, over 75 animal cruelty officer liaisons, FDNY mascots Hot Dog and Siren, many other four-legged New Yorkers, shelters and rescue groups, veterinarians, giveaways, and, of course, lots of dogs. Join the fun at Adoptapalooza in Union Square Park at the end of the parade route.

Hundreds of dogs, cats, puppies, kittens, and rabbits will be available for adoption from more than 30 Alliance Participating Organizations. Confirmed shelters and rescue groups include Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC), Animal Haven, The Animal Project, ASPCA, Best Bullies, Bideawee, Bronx Tails Cat Rescue, Cats Cradle Rescuers, City Critters, Inc., Earth Angels Canine Rescue, Frankie's Fund for Feline Care and Rescue, GROWL, Husky House, Infinite Hope, K9Kastle, KittyKind, Linda's Cat Assistance, Long Island Bulldog Rescue, Long Island Greyhound Connection, Louie's Legacy Animal Rescue, Metropolitan Maltese Rescue (MetroMalts), NYC Metro Rabbit, The Patricia H. Ladew Foundation, Place for Cats, Posh Pets Rescue, Rebound Hounds, Rescue Dogs Rock NYC, Sean Casey Animal Rescue, Second Chance Rescue, Staten Island Hope Animal Rescue, Waggytail Rescue, and Zani's Furry Friends.

All animals for adoption have been vaccinated and spayed or neutered. Adoption fees will be covered by Animal Planet.

Prepare Your Pets for Emergencies!

Have your dog or cat microchipped by Vetco. The first 50 microchips will be FREE, or only $15 after the first 50.

Purchase a dog license (required by law in NYC) from the NYC Department of Health. (Checks, money orders, and credit/debit cards only. No cash accepted.)

Learn how to prepare yourself and your pets for emergencies from representatives from New York City Emergency Management / Ready New York.

Take home free, personalized pet ID tags, courtesy of the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals.

Have Fun with Your Whole Family!

Bring your children to the Kids' Korner for face painting by The Cheeky Chipmunk, caricature portraits of people and pets by Lorelei Arts, glitter tattoos by Rock & Rawhide, and more.

Bring your dog to the Blue Buffalo Dog Training Field for a free training sessions with a Petco certified trainer.

Have free photos taken with your pet at the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals photo booth.

Take Home Free Pet Products!

Pick up free pet food samples, other products, and information from pet-related vendors. Confirmed vendors include Blue Buffalo, Freshpet, HEARTGARD, Merrick, Nature's Variety, and NexGard.

Bring a Shelter Donation!

Rock & Rawhide will collect your donations of clean towels, blankets, pet toys, and other supplies for shelter animals.

Learn About Other NYC Animal Organizations!

Meet wildlife rehabilitators and learn about the wild animals who share our urban home at the Urban Utopia Wildlife Rehabilitation and Wild Bird Fund booths.

Learn how Pets for Vets is providing second chances for shelter pets by rescuing, training, and pairing them with military veterans who can benefit from a companion animal.

Celebrity pets Marnie the Dog, Mervin the Chihuahua, Chloe Kardoggian, and Ella Bean the Dog will be in attendance, ASPCA historical artifacts will be on display, and food trucks including Calexico, The Green Radish, and Yeah Dawg will be on site.
